In some cases, you might get one of these messages after running Foxtrot:
“Warning: License activation required. Please activate your licenses by running the Foxtrot Administrator on the server. License Path:…”
“Please use the Foxtrot Administrator to activate your licenses”
“Your license is invalid. License error: 2. Please reactivate your Foxtrot licenses”
This usually means that the license was not activated correctly or the permissions were not set properly. In order to solve any of the three issues, follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. The first thing to check is local file permissions. This would be to the installation folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxtrot Suite" and the "C:\ProgramData\Foxtrot Suite" folder. Read/Write/Modify permissions need to be granted. Right-click on the folder and make sure to grant all users permission in this folder. Click on the 'Security' tab, then 'Edit...' and then apply this to "Users". The end result should look like this.
Now, test if Foxtrot works now. If it works, you can skip the last part of the guide.
If the problem is still not solved, please continue with the following steps.
If this is a shared set up:
2.1. Make sure that the license path matches where the licenses were activated. If the licenses were activated to \\UNC-PATH\Foxtrot\, that is what the license path should be exactly.
2.2. Check the permissions on the Shared folder from the license server:
2.3. Make sure the client machine can actually get to the license machine. You can do this by typing to \\UNC-PATH\Foxtrot Suite\ into a File Explorer window.
2.4. Check the VirtualStore folders on the license server. If the user that activated the licenses didn’t have full permissions to the installation folder, the licenses are activated to the VirtualStore directory. If there are files in the folder "C:\Users\User Name\App Data\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files (x86)\Foxtrot Suite" – they need to be moved to the installation folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxtrot Suite". Therefore, copy both the FTSuite.lf and RPA2.lf file from the Virtual Store folder and paste to the installation folder. You will receive a message that the files already exist, you can safely overwrite the old files.
2.5. If there is still a problem, deactivate the license and activate it again.
If this is a local set up:
2.1. Deactivate the license
2.3. Re-activate the license
